All Clear

All Clear means that the finishing order has passed the required review and is now the official result. It marks the point when the order shown immediately after a race is no longer provisional.

Why does the result need to be confirmed?

The order in which the horses cross the line is not automatically the completed official result. The stewards check that the finishing order is correct and consider any objection or protest connected with the race. All Clear is announced after any necessary review has finished.

What changes after All Clear?

Once the order is confirmed, it is treated as the official race result and payouts can proceed. This is why viewers should distinguish the provisional order displayed just after the finish from the declared result. Watching the finish alone is not enough; check whether the race operator has issued the All Clear announcement as well.

A common misunderstanding

All Clear says nothing about a horse’s prospects in a later race, nor does it promise any return. It is primarily an official and procedural status for the race that has just ended. The fact that a review took place also does not necessarily mean the order changed. The final placings shown in the official result remain the record to check.
